ABOUT OUR TRAINERS

Meet The Off Leash K9 Team

Trish - owner

Portland and surrounding areas: Trish brings a lot of dog training experience to Portland, Oregon! Trish spent twelve years of active duty in the United States Air Force, ten as a military working dog handler which included six different duty stations and two deployments. While at her home station, her and her (K9) partner would often times provide local law enforcement with back-up, supervise subordinates, and even assisted in Presidential event sweeps along with the US Secret Service. In her ten years of service, she had the opportunity to work with hundreds of different dogs.

Trish is excited to bring her wealth of knowledge and experience to the Portland, Oregon area! She is very experienced in training dogs for basic and advanced obedience, detection work, as well as dealing with behavioral modification, puppy training, and aggression and/or reactivity cases.
She is excited to give owners the same level of training, discipline, and obedience as the military working dogs she had worked for ten years; regardless of their age, size, or breed!

Trish is the proud owner of a six year old Caucasian Shepherd named Judy and a four year old black lab named Ava.

Myriah- Trainer

Portland and surrounding areas:  Myriah was raised around a lot of different dog breeds, and has always had an interest in working with dogs. Myriah has 2 dogs of her own Keanu, a Rottweiler poodle mix, and Cooper, a Pitbull cattle dog mix.  In 2017 she got her first job at a dog kennel where she worked for 3 years. In late 2018 she adopted a mastiff that was very human and dog reactive shortly after that she started working with OffLeash. While learning how to train with OffLeash she was working on her new skills with her Mastiff Oliver which taught her a lot about working with reactivity, and showed her how much of a difference training can make. From then on she realized that she wanted to continue working to help reactive dogs and the owners be more confident and comfortable. She loves being a part of the OffLeash family and loves all of the experience, and skills she continues to gain with every dog she gets to work with.

Angie- Trainer

Salem and surrounding areas:

Angela was born and raised right here in Salem, Oregon!
Animals have been her passion since she was a child and started working in
pet shops as a teenager. She studied biology and herpetology in college. Moving across the country to follow her dreams and worked in a zoo in Arkansas for a couple of years, where she was the main caretaker for the Zoo. Taking care of lions, tigers ,monkeys and bears just to name a few! This helped her aquire the nickname Animal Lady. She ended up with a small zoo of her own with 70+ animals ranging from cats , dogs, and ferrets! It also included an array of reptiles. She loaded up her small zoo and made her way back to Oregon to be near family and pursue her dreams here. In her pursuit she came to OffLeash K9. She is very passionate about working with dogs! Angie says ” The joy I get from helping the dogs gain confidence and live fuller lives because of it, makes this a dream come true.”

Joy - Trainer

Salem and surrounding areas: Joy grew up in the Portland area with dogs and horses. When she was young she wanted to be a horse trainer but when she adopted her ACD mix in 2021 she discovered her passion for training dogs!

She joined the OLK9 team in 2022.

When she isn’t working with her clients and their dogs, she enjoys spending time with her personal dogs, Dax and Clyde. Dax is a happy go lucky pup who got her into dog training. Clyde is a goofy, high energy, yet fearful pit bull mix who gave her firsthand experience managing behavioral problems. Now she’s a fierce advocate for misunderstood dogs and realistic expectations.

Two personal dogs and a full time job with dogs might sound like enough, but not for Joy! She also fosters dogs from local rescues with the goal of giving them a super solid foundation so they can find a good home.

Nate - Trainer

Bend and surrounding areas: Nate has grown up with family dogs all his life. He found OLK9 training when he needed help with Ronin, the Lab/GSD that he recused. Before training, Ronin was very dog aggressive, human aggressive and liked to do his own thing but OLK9 changed all that. Ronin now goes everywhere Nate goes and enjoys the OffLeash life! When OLK9BEND was hiring, he jumped at the chance to help people with their dogs like training helped him.

Nate loves to hike, mountain bike, snowshoe…basically be outside! Bend is a great place to live because of all the opportunities to go play outside with your dog; Nate loves to help people get out more with their dog.

Mandy - Trainer

Eugene surrounding areas: Mandy’s passion started when she founded a nonprofit dog rescue in 2013. They take in dogs with behavior challenges of all kinds! She was curious to see what OLK9 Training could do for the dogs in our care. She was hooked day one! “This training works. The ‘unmanageable/unadoptable dog’ we trained is now an ambassador to all shelter dogs!” She wants to keep families together by training their dogs and giving their owners the tools they need to truly enjoy their dogs with confidence.

“I knew this was for me in 2011 when I was talked into getting a “family dog.” I was actually afraid of dogs and the dog we adopted was a nightmare! Instead of giving up, I took her to training classes and watched her bloom into a canine good citizen, and my best friend. When she died I started SevaDog Rescue and I’ve been working with dogs and their families ever since.”

William-Trainer

Portland and surrounding areas:  Will has spent nearly 3 years training with dogs and possesses a lot of talents like a motorcycle mechanic, and a Portland tattoo artist!  (Instagram @WilliamBowler)

He has always been around animals and added a German Shepherd named Rex to his family three years ago.  Rex comes from serious working lines which can come with a host of neurotic behaviors if not properly exercised thus peeking Will’s interest in dog training.

Will excitedly joined the OLK9 team to further his skill set and fell in love with the art form. Will is the resident daystay trainer in Portland.

Ryan - Trainer

Eugene and surrounding areas: Ryan’s passion all started with being curious. He and his partner Mandy wanted to learn more about OLK9 Training. Ryan works with many dogs from their own rescue with behavioral challenges,  and he is excited to share his experience.

Ryan grew up in Phoenix, Arizona, where he took an active role in training their family dogs. It wasn’t until he started his work in the rescue that he really saw the transformations a dog goes through with time, training and commitment.
